Start working with a doula today!
During the pregnancy, you’ll have unlimited text and call correspondence and two prenatal visits. During these visits we’ll build rapport, discuss nutrition and day to day activities that can assist with an easier pregnancy/labor, learn comfort measures and what to expect, develop a birth plan, and prepare for the fourth trimester (life with newborn).
Having a baby should be a positive experience, so my main focus is to create a safe and comfortable environment for you to bring your baby into the world and begin bonding immediately. During the labor and birth, as a non-medical professional I will provide emotional and physical support to the birthing person. I will also provide support to the partner and family.
Our job isn’t done once delivery is over. I will stay in close contact with you after your birth to provide any assistance you need for healthy development. You'll have two postpartum visits and unlimited calls and texts for any questions or concerns.
As an additional service, postpartum support can be provided. Postpartum Support includes; assistance with newborn up to three months old, provide information and support on infant feeding and sleeping, emotional and physical recovery from childbirth, infant soothing and coping skills, mental health check-in, light housework and cooking.

My name is Traequanda Brock and my interest in birth and postpartum doula work came about during my graduate studies in the social work program. I have been in the social work field since 2011 and graduated from Howard University with my Master of Social Work degree. I have always been passionate about equity, especially for those who are marginalized. I learned of the disparity among black women/black birthing persons and the rate at which they weren’t surviving due to birth related complications, that are completely preventable when given the right care. As I learned the huge impact doulas could have on the life of black women/black birthing persons, I knew where my calling was leading me.
I am trained through the National Black Doula Association as a birth and postpartum doula. I know that my purpose is to be of service to others and that so happens to be in this field. My interest is for birthing persons to get back in touch with their bodies and all that it can do. This looks like, trusting yourselves and tapping into your intuition, nurturing your mind, body, and soul; with the nutrients you feed it, exercise, meditation, ancestral traditions; as well as leaning on your supports through this beautiful experience.
As the birthing person, you are in charge and I support you along the journey. I’ll work with you during labor and birth in hospitals, birth centers, and homes. Having a special place in my heart for home births. I look forward to working with you.
